The most common family unit in Slovakia is the single (nuclear) family
(father,mother and children). Extended family can still be found in rural
areas.The average Slovak family has two or three children. The women and the
men have equal rights.

1.What kind of music do you
listen to?
The adults mostly listen to old rock or old pop from the 80’s and 90’s,the kids
generally listen to the latest styles.
2.Which kind of music is played on the radio?
It depends on the radio station.
Express music station plays mostly RnB,hip
hop,pop,electro.
Radio FM plays britpop,indie rock,alternative genres.
Radio Jemné melódie plays pop.
Devín music station plays classical music.
3.Is music
supported in schools?
We have several events by
a year. For example the Christmas concert where we can prove our talent.
There is also a music school in our town which is attended by our
students. They organize concerts every year.
4.Folk music in
Slovakia
The music of Slovakia has been influenced by the
country’s native people and neighbour regions.
The country has a rich heritage of folk music.
A traditional Slovak folk instrument is fujara. It has been used by shepherds.
In November 2005 the fujara and its music were named Masterpieces of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by
UNESCO.
